Gabriel Mercer

Relatively new to the triathlon scene (his first triathlon was seven months ago!) and is taking on the grueling 180K bike ride on team The Lewis Crushers this summer. The team event is one of the most exciting to watch as team spirit, emotion and true grit run high.

Name: Gabriel Mercier
Age Group: 35-39
Event/Distance: The 180K bike ride portion of the EPIC Team event; The Lewis Crushers

How long have you been involved in the triathlon world?

I have only been doing triathlon for 7 months. I did my first sprint triathlon last September.

When you started, what were your goals?

My goal was to finish my first sprint triathlon. My long term goal is to finish an iron-distance triathlon.

Do you have any pre-race superstitions?

How many hours per week do you train?

I train 8 to 10 hours a week.

What do you love most about EPIC Dartmouth and why did you choose this race?

This is my first race with EPIC. I chose to do this race as a challenge to myself and to have fun and to show my children anything is possible if you work hard.

Words of wisdom (Any advice for your competitors or future triathletes?)

Train, prepare and, most of all, have fun!
