2016 Subaru EPIC Dartmouth Triathlon Postponed to July 2nd 2017

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have made the very difficult decision to postpone the 2016 Subaru EPIC Dartmouth Triathlon

[All other races of the 2016 EPIC Weekend, the EPIC Canadian – Run for Canada, EPIC Kids, and EPIC Swim are a go as planned!].

Two large sections of our bike route, comprising in total 28 kilometres of race distance, will undergo major construction this year, leaving us unable to guarantee a safe and secure competitive environment for our July 2nd event. Over the last two months, the EPIC team has worked continually with City Staff, NS Dept of Highways, the HPD & RCMP to identify an alternate route we could use for our 2016 event. In the last few days we exhausted the last of those possibilities.

All 2016 registered athletes have been offered their choice of 100% refund of all fees paid, or to transfer their registration to our 2017 Subaru EPIC Dartmouth Triathlon event. Stay tuned for more information about 2017 Registration options.

Please accept our sincere apologies for this change. We do not take these decisions lightly. As competitors and triathletes ourselves – many with half and full iron distance finishes in our past – we know how hard you work toward race day.

Though it may be hard to see in the immediate term, there IS a longer term silver lining to this 2016 construction: In 2017, we will have 28 kilometres of new pavement on our 90k and 180k bike routes. This includes the full length of Oldham Road, which will go from one of the worst roads in the province to one of the best, and a large section near Wellington that will be widened by a full meter.
